Question 4: What are some of the similarities and differences between the databases Education Abstracts and ERIC? (Click on the next to each database.)

Answer: Yes, these are both databases that specialize in the field of education. However, if you review the descriptions of each database, you will find that they vary in (1) what exactly is included and (2) how far back in years their publications go. Moreover, each database includes a variety of journals—but not necessarily the same ones. (3) You can etermine exactly which journals are covered in each database by clicking on the link provided on the databse description pages to the "List of Journals Indexed." If you missed these points, take another look at the descriptions for ERIC and Education Abstracts.

Knowing what a database's focus is, what types of materials the database covers, and how far back in history its coverage extends is extremely important in determining whether that database will be of use to your research.
