Computer Source

Provides information and current trends in high technology from over 330 periodicals, more than 250 of which are full-text. Topics include computer science, programming, artificial intelligence, cybernetics, information systems, robotics, software, as well as market information in computers, telecommunications, electronics, and the Internet.

 

Computers & Applied Sciences Complete (CASC)

Covers research and development in the areas of computing and the applied sciences disciplines, including research concerning the social and professional implications of new technology. Indexes scholarly journals, trade publications, and other sources.

 

Electronic Journal Center
Presents over 4300 research journals in many subject areas, including library and

information science.

 

ERIC

ERIC is the U.S. Department of Education's Educational Resource Information Center database, which contains citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals and full text of more than 2,200 digests, with references for additional information.  Updated quarterly.

 

INSPEC 1969-

Citations only. Provides access to the world's scientific and technical literature in physics, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering, computers and computing, and information technology.

 

Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts
Indexes more than 600 periodicals, as well as books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, and information management. Coverage: mid-1960s to the present.

 

SCIPIO: Art and Rare Book Sales Catalogs
 Describes art auction and rare book catalogs for sales from the late 16th century to scheduled auctions not yet held.  Updated daily.

 

Social Sciences Citation Index (ISI Web of Science)

Citations. Indexes articles of scholarly journals from 50 disciplines of the social sciences, with searchable author abstracts and a unique feature that enables searching of articles that cite a known author or work. Note: Not intended as a substitute for a comprehensive subject database such as SocINDEX, which comprehensively indexes journal articles, books, conference proceedings, and other documents.

How Do You Find Out if a Periodical Exists in this Library?

 

·          Use the ODU Library Catalog to search for the title of the journal or newspaper you’re trying to find. 
Choose a TITLE search and type in the title of the journal or newspaper you desire.

 

·          The library's journals and magazines are located:
 
(1) In print in the Periodicals section on the top floor, arranged alphabetically by title
(2) Back issues in print (usually prior to 1960) in the Back Issues Room on the bottom floor
(3) In microfilm in cabinets behind the Periodicals section
 
A microfilm reader/printer (with free printing!) is also available on the top floor.
