Ohio Dominican's Intervention Specialist Program prepares students for a state teaching license in Intervention Specialist, grades K-12.
Program highlights:
  • Bachelor of Science in Education offered in both Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Intensive educational needs for K-12.

    Kappa Delta Pi 
    Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) is an International Honor Society in Education, whose purpose is to connect future educators with each other and other education advocates. KDP strives to reach out to the community through education by volunteering, fundraising, and organizing events.

    Ohio Student Education Association
    All ODU Education majors are invited to join the Ohio Student Education Association (OSEA), a pre-professional organization for students preparing for careers in education. 

    Current students are part of the Ohio Education Association, which representing more than 128,000 members in the state. The Association actively supports public education reform and teacher licensure.

  • Dominican Scholars
    Through the Dominican Scholars program, ODU offers education students extended leadership, learning and community services opportunities. 

    Aspiring educators will observe teaching environments, tutor students, participate in professional associations and more.

  • Professional Accreditations
    Both the Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Intervention programs (K-12) are:
    • nationally recognized by Council for Exceptional Children (CEC);
    • approved by the Ohio Department of Education/Ohio Board of Regents; and
    • accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
    Each instructor in ODU’s Education program has been a classroom teacher at some point in his or her life.
  • Education Field Office
    ODU's Education Field Office organizes and administers all field and clinical experiences in the teacher education programs. We partner with area school districts and their teachers to help provide quality and diverse field experiences for our future educators.
