Study abroad with an ODU faculty member for one to two weeks during the semester.

These programs are a great option for students with little international travel or for students who are unable to be away for a longer time.

Each year, ODU students travel to new destinations and study a variety of topics. Usually, these courses do not require any pre-request course work and are appropriate for any major.

For the May Term Study Abroad programs, students will earn three credits split between the prep course at ODU and the in-country course during the May Term.

Students will take two credits during the second half of the spring semester and one credit in-country. Students would be responsible for any tuition overage during the spring semester, the May Term tuition cost and the program fee.

For programs during the semester, the credits will be awarded all in the same term.

Past trips have gone to Costa Rica, Guatemala and Spain.

Study abroad trips during spring break are perfect for first-time international travels and those who don't want to spend too much time away from home and ODU.

Students may also participate in Immersion Service Trips during spring break where, in addition to exploring the culture and history of the city they visit, they will help the communities they are staying in.

Service projects during these trips have included assisting with a children's feeding program, a pre-kindergarten program, a program to teach computer skills, a community garden, a women's group, a children's medical clinic, and also some ongoing construction projects to add a school and library to these communities.

Past trips have included El Salvador, Florence, Rome, Guatemala and Haiti.

Summer is the perfect time to travel the world! In the past, ODU has sponsored summer trips to Costa Rica.

Additional opportunities for education abroad in the summer are offered through co-sponsoring organizations.
