ODU students are encouraged to consider one of the numerous education abroad programs available to them. In May of 2011, students enrolled in the Art & Design Program traveled to Germany and Switzerland. The natural richness of Germany presents itself as the obvious location to begin this course due to its vast printing history, architecture and culture. Germany is a central location for artistic movements tied to political upheaval, giving students the opportunity to see firsthand the birthplace of visual communication and the founding of the graphic design profession. Tours included the Gutenberg Museum, Hamburger Bahnhof Contemporary Art Museum, Zurich Museum of Design and the Kunsthalle Contemporary Art Museum.
