ODU's Early Childhood Education program prepares graduates for an Ohio teaching license to teach pre-kindergarten through grade three.
Programs offered:
  • Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education
  • Licensure in Early Childhood Education
  • Endorsement in Early Childhood Education
Because early childhood teachers typically teach all subjects, students are expected to take courses across the curriculum. ODU's Early Childhood Education program provides general education classes and a range of professional education courses while integrating theory, practice and educational technology.

In addition, ODU students participate in extensive field-based experiences in diverse early childhood settings prior to student teaching.

Candidates can pursue an Early Childhood Education Generalist Endorsement in order to add grades 4 and 5 to their licenses. This endorsement may be added only to an Early Childhood License.

Coursework is also available for a P-12 Reading Endorsement.

The program models guidelines of the Ohio Department of Education, the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
