Through Ohio Dominican University’s exclusive partnership with Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine eligible students can complete their Doctor of Osteopathy in as few as seven years.

The ODU-to-OU Med School Early Assurance Program will accept a limited number of outstanding incoming freshman students each year who will be assured of acceptance into the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM), as long as they maintain the high academic standards of the agreement.

OU-HCOM is one of the top osteopathic programs in the nation and the only osteopathic medical program in Ohio. You will have the opportunity to follow one of the two tracks to completion:

  • Attend three years at ODU and complete your remaining credits required for an ODU degree during your first year at OU-HCOM (3+4 track).
  • Complete your degree at ODU prior to attending medical school at Ohio University’s main campus in Athens or its satellite campuses in Cleveland or Dublin, Ohio (4+4 track).
  • How to Apply

For admission to the ODU-to-OU Med School Early Assurance Program you must apply to both Ohio Dominican University and the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine EAP.

In the OU-HCOM EAP application you will need to select which track you would prefer:

    • Med School Early Assurance Program, 4+4
Within the 4 + 4 track, you’ll complete your undergraduate studies at ODU (4 years) and obtain your Doctor of Osteopathy from OU-HCOM (4 years).
    • Med School Early Assurance Program, 3+4
The 3 + 4 track includes three years of study at ODU. You’ll complete your Bachelor of Science degree during your first year of medical school at OU-HCOM, earning your Doctor of Osteopathy degree in seven years.

Please note: Participants in the ODU-to-OU Med School Early Assurance Program are offered conditional acceptance into the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Program.

You will receive final acceptance in the OU-HCOM program providing all of the criteria are met (see Admission Requirements in the drop-down below).
