Skylar Marie Duty

Skylar Marie Duty

Majors: History and Mild-to-Moderate Intervention Specialist

Hometown: Circleville, Ohio

I choose ODU because it was a smaller school and I liked the size of the classes. I also wanted to go somewhere that was within the state of Ohio, but not super close to home.

Major: Biology

I chose Ohio Dominican because of its strong academic programs and personalized education. I value the opportunity to receive individualized attention from professors and build meaningful relationships with my peers. The university's location in Columbus provides access to a vibrant city with diverse career opportunities and a rich cultural scene. I also appreciate ODU’s close-knit campus community, which fosters a sense of belonging and engagement. Furthermore, the university's values and mission align with my own, making it an ideal choice for my intellectual, spiritual and ethical development.

Major: History

Hometown: Bulawayo, Zimbabwe

Why did I choose ODU? Because of the strong support that exists for all students, from a structural level, right to an interpersonal level. Because it stood head and shoulders above all my other choices; its holistic education purposed to mould an individual able to understand life in all its facets and offer solutions. Do not be afraid to dream, this is the place to do that. Be catapulted into what you envision. Believe in yourself, the world is for the dreamers. Come as you are and be open to learn, and receive the help, the partnerships, the mentorship and the guidance. We are rooting for you at ODU!

Major: Psychology

Hometown: Gahanna, Ohio

I chose ODU because its smaller class sizes felt less overwhelming to me. In addition, the campus is small, so it gives me a “homey” type of feeling, especially when it comes to athletic events; everyone is there!

Miya Kinn

I chose ODU because of its wonderful Biology program and the many different unique opportunities for science majors on campus!

Katelynn LeGault

Katelynn Legault

Majors: Marketing & Public Relations and Business Administration

Hometown: London, Ohio

I chose ODU for the atmosphere and the environment that is created from being a small school. I grew up in a very rural small town and graduated with a small class, so I wanted to attend a school that gave the same small school type of vibe. I feel like I know or recognize everyone here and it creates a very welcoming and family atmosphere.

Major: English

Hometown: Whitehall, Ohio

I chose ODU because of its close-knit community. It's been easy to make friends, participate in campus activities, and receive one-on-one help from my professors!

Alexandria Webster

Alexandria Webster

Major: Criminology

Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio

Some of the main reasons I chose to ODU were its small class sizes and the tight-knit community on campus. ODU’s location in Columbus also was a deciding factor in my choice because it gives me easy access to my family and friends while still allowing me to enjoy the benefits of a campus community and a full college experience.

Isa Wiegand

Isa Wiegand

Major: Biology

Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio

I originally chose ODU because of the amazing programs it has. I am in the Med School Early Assurance Program, which grants me conditional admission to Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine upon graduation. I never visited ODU before committing, but if I had to go through the college decision process again, I would still choose ODU. We have a really strong sense of community here, and everyone is so friendly!

Elizabeth Williamson

Elizabeth Williamson

Major: Social Work

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio

I chose ODU because I appreciate the environment and small campus. My advice? Don't just go to class – choose to make your best effort to learn what the professor is teaching you.
