Approximately 300 people turned out to support Ohio Dominican University's student-athletes at the seventh annual Nationwide Children's Hospital Sports Medicine Black & Gold Club Kickoff on Friday, Aug. 5.
This year, we put a whole new spin on the kickoff by hosting our first-ever casino night. The event featured table games, silent auctions, raffle prizes and an inspiring speech given by ODU senior women's basketball player, Tori Beth Leader.
The event also included a video featuring ODU softball player, Montana Fishel, who spoke about the positive impact ODU and softball has had on her life, and how she overcame serious injuries to return to the softball diamond and play the game she loves.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a huge success! Your support and contributions go directly toward improving the experience of our student-athletes. Thank you also to our event sponsors: Nationwide Children's Hospital Sports Medicine; Kimball Midwest; Bartha; Dominican Sisters of Peace; Gallagher Consulting Group, Inc.; Lakefront Lines.; Jonathan Michael '77; Sodexo; White Castle; Coca-Cola; Education First Credit Union; Tom Fitzpatrick '69; Karen and Tom Mueller; and the 1968-69 ODU Basketball Team.
