Ohio Dominican’s fitness center offers cardio equipment, free-weights, and men’s and women’s locker rooms. The area also has flat screen TVs and an audio system. There are more than 60 units of equipment including six treadmills, six stationary bikes, four ellipticals, dumbbells, and a stretch station.

  • Entrance: ID Card required. Students, Faculty, and Staff are welcome.  
  • Dress Code: Tennis shoes / gym clothes. Shirts required at all times. Bring your own personal towel.

Use of fitness center equipment is done at one's own risk. The University is not responsible for injuries sustained at the fitness center. 

Lockers are available; please bring your own lock. No overnight storage - any property remaining at closing time will be sent to Lost & Found. ODU is not responsible for loss or theft of personal property.


Fitness Center Updated Safe Practices

Please take a moment and familiarize yourself with the safe practices in place related to the operation of ODU’s Fitness Center. These are based on recommendations made by state and federal health officials as well as policies put in place by Ohio Dominican to ensure the health and safety of all students, faculty and staff.

  • Your ODU ID is required to enter the Fitness Center. You will swipe your own ID upon entering. The ID system is in place as not just a safety measure in case of an emergency but also will be used for contact tracing, should anyone who has used the fitness center test positive for COVID-19.
  • Wiping towels and spray bottles containing sanitizer will be provided to each person using the Fitness Center. Please keep these items throughout your visit and be sure to sanitize the equipment both before and after use. Once you are done using these materials, please return all bottles to the front desk so they can be sanitized. All towels will be placed into a dirty bin to be washed daily.
  • No more than 32 individuals are permitted to be inside at a time to ensure distancing is possible.
  • While facemasks are not required while working out, please be sure to wear a mask upon entering and exciting the Fitness Center.
  • Water fountains are not currently available, so please bring a water bottle with you.
  • Exercise equipment has been arranged to allow for physical distancing. Some equipment may be marked as being unavailable to ensure proper spacing.
  • Storage cubbies have been marked accordingly for permitted use and are sanitized daily.
  • While the men’s and women’s locker rooms will be open, the men’s locker room will be limited to four occupants, and the women’s locker room will be limited to six occupants. Specific lockers will be marked permitted for use, however showers will not be available. A regular cleaning schedule has been established with Sodexo.
  • Additional hand sanitizer is available throughout the Fitness Center. Please sanitize your hands often.

Fitness Center Guest & Alumni Policies

Guests of Faculty & Staff  

  • Faculty & Staff bringing a guest must have signed a liability waiver before using center. The waiver is available at the fitness center front desk. 
  • Limited to one person per visit, with free admission
  • Must be 18 or older and provide picture ID with date of birth
  • Guest must sign a liability waiver before their first visit (kept on file in FC) 

Guests of Students 

  • Limited to one person per visit, with $5 admission, which can be paid at the Cyber Café. Guest must take receipt of payment to Fitness Center for admission
  • Must be 18 or older and provide picture ID with date of birth
  • A liability waiver must be signed by guest on first visit (kept on file in FC) 

Alumni 

May use the center with an issued membership card (requiring a signed liability waiver) and a picture ID. 

Cost for a membership:  

  • Full-year membership: $120 
  • Six-month membership: $75 
  • One-month membership: $15 

Eligibility of membership must be approved by Alumni Office and then forwarded to Business Office for collection of membership fee and issuance of ID card.
