Who are Saints? In the Catholic Church, Saints are our recognized heroes and heroines in the life of faith. They become our models, mentors, and intercessors (they pray for us).

What is a Patron Saint? A Patron Saint is a special friend to pray for you to God. Patron Saints are chosen because of a special relationship with a region, life interest, profession, trade, malady, etc.

How do we celebrate Patron Saints? Every Saint has a special day on which they are remembered. As close as we can to that day, or on another date associated with their life or death, we call upon their intercession at Mass, our communal prayer in the Catholic Church. On the schedule that follows, you can locate the Patron Saint associated with your profession or area of study. You are invited to join the ODU family at Mass that day, when you will be raised up in prayer as we invoke your Patron Saint to pray for you.

At Ohio Dominican University, music plays a very important role in our liturgical celebrations.

Music is integral to Catholic worship. It allows us to express our belief in a unique and inspiring way. The goal of ODU's music ministry is to involve and assist the community in worship. What is most important about this ministry is your participation!

If you have an interest in music, a talent for singing or playing instruments, or ideas about how to improve our worship on campus, let us know at campusministry@ohiodominican.edu.

Chapel Cantors and Choir Leaders

If you are interested in singing in our Chapel Choir for Mass on Sundays, we invite you to contact us at ministry@ohiodominican.edu.

Participants in Chapel Choir do not need to be Catholic – all students are welcome to join in our music ministry.
