When should I apply for financial aid?
You can apply for financial aid anytime. However, we recommend students meet with an admissions counselor, apply to the university and then apply for financial aid.
How long does it take to apply for financial aid?
The process from start to finish can take as few as three to four days.
How do I apply for financial aid?
First, you will create an FSA ID, if you don’t already have one. Once your FSA ID is active, you will complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov.
How is my financial aid eligibility determined?
Eligibility for most types of aid is awarded on the basis of financial need. Financial need is calculated using a cost of attendance, your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and financial resources.
What types of aid are available?
Degree-seeking Adult & Continuing Education students may qualify for the Federal Pell Grant, the Ohio College Opportunity Grant, and Federal Student Loans.
When will I receive my financial aid award letter?
We will mail you an award letter once you are registered and have a completed FAFSA on file. You may also access your financial aid award letter online through ODU Online. You will need your university login and password to access ODU Online.
How much financial aid will I be awarded?
You will be awarded your maximum grant and loan eligibility based on your financial need, class level and enrollment status. If you want an amount less than you have been awarded, contact the Financial Aid Office.
How often do I need to apply for financial aid?
All students must reapply for financial aid every year by completing a FAFSA. The FAFSA is available each year on October 1.
