  • Diocese of Columbus Summer Learning Academy
    The Summer Learning Academy 2019 will provide the opportunity to examine Catholic education and what the future should look like in our schools... good instruction and assessment, an environment of critical thinking and risk taking and a place for innovation. We invite you to join in the discussion, discovery and dialogue. A variety of workshop opportunities will be held at Ohio Dominican University, 1216 Sunbury Road, Columbus, OH, from June 11 to June 26.

  • Columbus Diocese Professional Development Opportunities

    Ohio Dominican has partnered with the Columbus Diocese to offer the following courses to teachers for professional development credit:

    Connecting the Dots: Instructional Leadership

    This workshop  of the Beginning of a 4 part series for school leaders connecting Standards Based Learning with their role as an Instructional Leader. Recognition of the 3 tiered instructional foundation of good instructional practices, best practices and self-reflection on steps to improve faculty instructional practices.

    Dates:  June 20-22

    Wed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Thur 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Fri 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Teaching Insurance - Online Offering

    Course Name:  Teaching Insurance (Grades 6-12)

    This online, two-credit, graduate-level course for 6th-12th grade teachers in Ohio is designed to provide teachers with the knowledge and proficiency needed to effectively educate middle and high school students on the topics of basic property and casualty insurance principles as well as social security, Medicare, disability, life and health insurance. 

    • Online Course Run Dates:
      Summer 2019: June 3  – August 10
      Course Registration Dates:
    •  Summer 2019 registration is open until July 1, 2019

    Participants can complete the 10-module course as quickly as preferred, but must register for the Summer course with at least six weeks before the end of the course.

    To register for Summer 2019, complete our Professional Development for Teachers Enrollment Form. Under Select Program and Courses, choose ODU Online Offerings and select Teaching Insurance (Grades 6-12) Professional Development Course.

    Course Scholarship
    Ohio Insurance Institute (OII) is offering full scholarships ($500) to educators who teach or plan to teach insurance topics. If awarded a scholarship, you will be reimbursed the course fee upon successful completion of the course. Scholarship application will be open through December 31, 2018.
