Ohio Dominican takes a variety of factors into account when reviewing a student’s application for admission. Emphasis is typically placed on the student’s academic transcript, since that is usually the best indicator of academic success. ODU’s admission requirements are established as a guideline, but each student is considered individually for their unique talents and contributions. Ohio Dominican’s Admission Committee makes admissions decisions on a rolling basis.
There are two pathways to admission:
- Traditional Admission – This involves the submission of high school transcript and test scores.
- Minimum cumulative, weighted GPA of 2.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Composite score of 18 on the ACT (or) 940 or higher (out of 1600) on the SAT.
- Test-Optional Admission – No ACT/SAT is required. All students are required to submit an official Ohio Dominican application and official transcript of a student’s high school record. For more details, please visit ODU’s University Catalog.
- Minimum cumulative, weighted GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Students are required to submit additional information, such as a writing sample, student activities, reference letters, and community service work. View a complete list here.
The University Admission Committee also evaluates students who fall below ODU’s admission requirements and may, if needed, request additional information to consider. Students who have been denied admission may appeal the admission decision by contacting email@example.com. Students will be directed through the appeal process and may be required to send additional documents or attend a campus interview with the University Admission Committee.
Students who have completed the Ohio General Educational Development (GED) high school equivalency program will need to provide evidence of their achievement by submitting an official copy of the Certificate and the actual scores.
Students seeking undergraduate admission to Ohio Dominican University after studying at another institution of college rank are required to submit a completed Ohio Dominican application and official transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges, universities, and similar institutions previously attended. Transfer applicants are generally acceptable if they show evidence of a good academic standing at the institution previously attended and have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 grading scale in their previous college-level academic coursework. Students with fewer than 24 semester hours (36 quarter hours) of transferable credit may be required to submit an official copy of their high school transcript for evaluation and consideration.
