ODU Welcomes 38 New Honors Program Students

This year’s entering group achieved a median high school GPA of 4.034.

Sep 26, 2022

Ohio Dominican University welcomes 38 students into its Honors Program, including 34 new first-year students, three transfer students and one student from ODU’s early college program, The Charles School. These students join 63 returning Honors students for a total of 101 participants during the 2022-2023 academic year. This year’s entering group achieved a median high school GPA of 4.034.

“We are proud to welcome such an outstanding group of students to ODU’s Honors Program, bringing our total to over 100 for the first time,” said John Marazita, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology and Honors Program Director. “This year’s new students have already distinguished themselves as being ready, willing and able to serve ODU and the program, with seven students competing to serve on the Honors Student Board. Our freshmen have also been well represented in campus activities over the opening weeks of the term. I am confident that the future of the program is bright in their capable hands!”

ODU’s Honors Program is designed to enrich the academic experience of talented and motivated students. It is a community of learners who seek to develop their love of learning, deepen their understanding of significant issues, express their creativity, and engage in independent scholarly, scientific, and artistic endeavors. Participants have access to separate living and learning spaces; opportunities for close mentorship with faculty in related academic disciplines; an invitation to participate in collaborative research with faculty; and an ability to participate in extracurricular programming.
