Breanna Salyer Student of the Week

Academic Tutor

Why did you choose to attend Ohio Dominican University?
I joined Ohio Dominican’s band program while I was a student at Columbus State, and I really liked the environment at ODU. I also chose Ohio Dominican because it is easy to commute to from my house.

How do you stay involved at ODU?
I try to attend several sporting events throughout the year to show my support for my fellow classmates! I was also involved in ODU's band program for four years.

Have you participated in any internships?
I did an internship over the summer at the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services. My Sociology professors helped me choose what type of internship would be right for me, and they’re always sending me internship opportunities. I really enjoyed my internship site and would love to work there after I graduate.

What is your most memorable moment at ODU?
The moment that I finally chose my major! After two years in college, it was great to pick a major and know that it was meant to be right away!

What do you want to do after graduation?
I would like to get a few years of experience in my field before applying to graduate school. I’m fortunate to have a job lined up at my internship site after I graduate.

What is one unique experience you’ve had at ODU that has helped you grow personally, professionally and/or spiritually?
At ODU, I have been able to grow as a student with the help and support I’ve received from my professors.

Why are you proud to be an ODU student?
I am proud to be an ODU student because of how accepting and diverse the ODU community is.
