Dr. Thomas Eveland was recently invited to serve as a subject matter expert for the AI for Small Business workshops, sponsored by the Hamilton County Office of Small Business in collaboration with Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses and Cincinnati State.
These workshops were created to help small business owners, especially those with limited resources, better understand how to use artificial intelligence to streamline their operations and improve efficiency. Dr. Eveland led practical training sessions on widely used AI tools and offered a deeper look into prompt engineering. His sessions covered both beginner and intermediate topics, including generative AI evaluation, logical testing, and tree-of-thought techniques.
“The goal,” Dr. Eveland explained, “is to level the playing field by giving small business owners the knowledge and tools to harness AI for growth.”
As an Associate Professor at Ohio Dominican University, Dr. Eveland stresses the importance of keeping pace with emerging technologies. These workshops reflect ODU’s commitment to blending academic excellence with real-world application. It's about making sure that research, business, and technology come together to create meaningful impact for entrepreneurs. This mission also reflects the university’s Dominican values, encouraging thoughtful reflection and sharing insights with the broader community for the common good.
