  • Saturday, Oct. 26 – Veterans Appreciation Event
Please mark your calendar and save the date of Saturday, October 26, when Ohio Dominican University will celebrate Veterans Appreciation Day. The schedule is as follows:

10:30 a.m.: Free tailgate party near the entrance of the football stadium with entertainment by a Scottish piper and the ODU Marching Band. The Band will also play the five service songs at halftime and a color guard will present the nation’s colors. We will hear comments from ODU Head Football Coach Kelly Cummings as well.

12:00 p.m.: Football Kickoff against Walsh

Our honorary co-captain this year is Skyler Munekata. Skyler is a 2004 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point New York. Skyler served at Fort Carson Colorado; Iraq; as well as Fort Hood Texas. He is also a 2020 graduate of Ohio Dominican with a Master in Business Administration earning a 3.98 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. He has worked for the General Electric Corporation since leaving active duty.

Complimentary tickets to the game will be provided to you and your guests.

Although most of our veteran students receive government-sponsored education benefits that cover the cost of an ODU education, some struggle to cover the full cost of attendance. The Patriots Scholarship is an endowed scholarship to help these veteran students. If you wish to make a contribution to the Patriots Scholarship to help these student veterans achieve their goal of an ODU degree, please make a gift on-line at https://give.ohiodominican.edu or send a check to Ohio Dominican University, 1216 Sunbury Rd., Columbus, OH 43219. Please make checks payable to "Ohio Dominican University" and note “Patriots Scholarship” on the memo line.

This is a great opportunity to renew old friendships and be recognized for your service to our nation while supporting ODU and your Patriots Program. Please RSVP no later than Monday, October 21, to Christie Flood Weiner ’90, Alumni Director, via email at weinerc@ohiodominican.edu or by calling 614-253-3502. Please also share the name of your guest(s). We look forward to welcoming you back on campus! Respectfully yours, Major General Dennis Laich Director, PATRIOTS Program
