The Griffin Student Center is the focal point for student activities outside the classroom, providing a vibrant community experience central to our mission as a Dominican University.
Meet up with friends in the fireplace lounge, hold meetings for your student organization and take advantage of the computer labs and study areas. The "Griff" creates a community space to serve the physical, cultural, and spiritual needs of ODU students.

    Academic Year
    Monday - Friday: 7 a.m - 11:30 pm
    Saturday & Sunday 8 am - 11:30 pm

    Summer Hours
    Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
    Saturday & Sunday: Closed

    Extended hours will be determined and will vary depending on conferences, camps, and and university needs. 

     

  • Building Policies

    Gameroom Equipment

    • Students, faculty and staff may borrow recreational equipment (billiards cue sticks and ball sets) from the Fitness Center Desk. The following policies apply for recreation equipment use:
    • Equipment may only be checked out with a valid Ohio Dominican University ID. Your ID will be kept until the equipment is returned. Equipment may not be checked out overnight. 

    Publicity

    The following policies relate to the posting of publicity and other notices in the Griffin Center.

    • All publicity to be displayed in the Griffin Center should be approved at the Student Involvement Office.
    • Publicity may only be posted on designated bulletin boards.
    • Publicity may NOT be posted on glass, walls or doors.
    • Publicity found in undesignated areas, or any publicity without Student Involvement Office approval, will be removed.
    • Individuals or organizations are responsible for removing all publicity within 24 hours after the event.
    • Banners may be hung from the railings ONLY with string or rope. Absolutely no tape or other adhesives which could damage the surface shall be permitted.
    • Banners must be no larger than 2 feet by 3 feet, and must be approved by the Student Involvement office.
  • Where to Eat

    A variety of options from sandwiches and soups, to burgers, pizza, and baked goods are available between the Panther Deli and the Panther Grille!

    Your Panther Points, cash, and credit cards may be used for purchases.

  • Meeting Rooms

    Reservations for all facilities in the Student Center, and for other buildings around campus, can be made via our Event Hosting webpage.

    • Any registered student organization, as well as university departments, may reserve facilities on campus via the website.
    • Non-ODU groups are welcome to contact the Conference Coordinator at (614) 251-4774 for rental fee information, or the Reservations Coordinator at (614) 251-4702 for availability.

    There are 5 primary meeting rooms in the Student Center

    • Conference rooms 258, 259 and 260, which can be combined into one large event facility
    • Meeting rooms 274 and 276
    • The Dance Studio may also be reserved for performance groups

    Student groups wishing to have a table on the first floor for information distribution, bake sales, etc. may also reserve those spaces thru the reservation website.

    Other locations around the building may be scheduled for certain activities with permission of the Student Center Administrative Office, Room 256.

    Many student-focused services and departments are located in the Griffin Student Center to make them more accessible to our community.  

     

  • Barnes & Noble Bookstore
    Find everything you need for your life at ODU - textbooks, course materials, apparel, snacks and more! ODU's Bookstore, run by Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, is located on the First Floor of the Griffin Student Center.

    You can also order gear or reserve textbooks online at ohiodominican.bncollege.com.

    Return Policy
    The return policy of the bookstore requires a cash register receipt be presented for any return or exchange of merchandise.

    The bookstore will issue refunds in the original form of payment for textbooks purchased at the bookstore returned in the original new condition, with any accompanying software package unopened, within the first (one) week of classes for the traditional term and within five days of class start dates for Adult and Continuing Ed students.

    Summer semester text return policy will vary according to the length of the term for each particular class.

    Textbooks are available for purchase or rent approximately one month prior to the start of the term and for four weeks after the term begins.

    Upon request, the bookstore will place special orders for books and supplies that are not typically in the store. Panther points are accepted in the bookstore for convenience items only.

Who is Bishop James A. Griffin?

 

From July 2007 to June 2008, Bishop James A. Griffin served as Interim President of Ohio Dominican University. With more than 28 years as a Bishop and having led the Columbus Diocese for 21 years, Bishop Griffin brought a wealth of wisdom, faith, and knowledge to the Ohio Dominican campus. Named in his honor, the new Bishop James A. Griffin Student Center opened in August 2009.
