Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) is one of the best leadership courses in the country. ROTC is a college elective that focuses on leadership development, problem-solving, strategic planning, and professional ethics.

    Before being considered for ODU’s Army ROTC program, you must apply and be admitted to Ohio Dominican University.

  • Why ODU Army ROTC
    • Participate in Military Science courses at Capital University’s campus (just four miles from Ohio Dominican.)
      • First-year students meet once per week.
      • Second-year students and above meet twice each week.
      • Two-hour leadership laboratory once per week.
      • Option to attend Physical Readiness Training on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 6-7 a.m.
    • Combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training.
    • Opportunity to enroll in a Military Science course to learn more about ROTC with no military service obligation.
    • ODU offers a $500 grant per semester to students enrolled in a Military Science course.
    • You’ll be commissioned as an Army officer upon graduation from ODU’s ROTC program. You can also earn a commission from the President of the United States as a Second Lieutenant* 

    *If you pursue the opportunity to commission as a Second Lieutenant, you will incur a service obligation after graduation.

  • Scholarship Opportunities

    Apply for Army ROTC’s National Board Scholarships beginning in July 2019

    • 100% tuition coverage
    • $1,200 annual book allowance
    • $420 monthly living allowance
    • $11,000 room and board scholarship from ODU
    • Awarded for either three or four years of participation in program
    • Merit-based (Takes into account your GPA, ACT/SAT, leadership roles, employment and any other extracurricular activities)

    Scholarship-eligibility requirements include:

    • Minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA
    • Minimum cumulative score of 19 on the ACT or 940 on the SAT
    • Pass the Army Physical Fitness Test
    • Medical requirements must be met
    • Must be a U.S. citizen

    Current students may compete for campus-based ROTC scholarship

    • Provide the same financial benefit as ROTC national board scholarships
    • Currently enrolled students may compete locally to meet qualifications for an ROTC Scholarship for up to 3.5 years
    • Approximately 80% of cadets nationwide receive a campus-based ROTC scholarship
