Ohio Dominican Celebrates Grand Reopening of Historic Matesich Theatre

The 90-year-old theater recently underwent an extensive $1 million refurbishment.

Oct 15, 2019

Ohio Dominican University celebrated the grand reopening of its historic Sr. Mary Andrew Matesich, OP Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 12, with a performance by ProMusica Chamber Orchestra. The 90-year-old theater recently underwent an extensive $1 million refurbishment. The event was made possible due to support from Diamond Hill Capital Management.

This fall, crews completed the final phase of a five-year refurbishment of the theater, which included the replacement of the theater’s stage curtain, carpet and seats; strengthening of the theater’s exterior walls and roof; restoration of its intricate wood and plaster work; painting of its interior walls and ceiling; enhancement of its stage lighting system; and improvement of its audio and visual equipment. The refurbished theater has 549 seats. For more information on the theater’s refurbishment, visit ohiodominican.edu/Theater.
