Jan 19, 2021

We are excited to report that the ODU community now has access to more than 3,000 MIT Press eBooks published from 1943 through 2021 via MIT Press Direct, an online collection of ebooks. You can browse or search in this database for ebooks in art and architecture, biomedical sciences, business and finance, computer science, cognitive science, design, education, environment, game studies, humanities, information science, linguistics, neuroscience, new media, philosophy, and social sciences.

The database allows unlimited simultaneous users, and users can print, copy and paste, and download PDFs by chapter.

How to Access this Database

These are all available through the library's A-Z Databases alphabetically or by choosing "Ebook Collection" from the drop-down Menu at the top of that page, "Filter by Format."

Support for Faculty

In addition to providing students with more ebooks they can find in support of their papers, these e-books can also be used as supplemental course materials across many disciplines.

Ohio Dominican University's reference librarians are currently undergoing training in the MIT database and will be able to assist faculty in using this database n the near future.

Made Possible by ODU Library, OhioLINK, and GEER

MIT Press Direct is one of the resources that the library staff are making available this semester to the ODU community as a result of funding through OhioLINK and GEER, the Ohio Governor’s Emergency Education Relief funds, which are part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, federal economic aid authorized in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  OhioLINK has been awarded $2.5 million in GEER funds through the Ohio Department of Higher Education to support the education community during this public health emergency.
